Valle del Salto is a side valley of Vallemaggia in Ticino. From the old village of Maggia, a long staircase leads above the waterfall to the chapel of Santa Maria della Pioda (or della cascata). Built at the end of the Middle Ages, it offers a magnificent view of the village and the valley. Then a path leads to the end of this very wild valley made up of very steep mountain pastures and rustici, typical stone houses often perched spectacularly on steep slopes.
